  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs ( room temp )
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoon instant yeast
  • 6 cups all purpose flour

Filling and Topping:

  • 2 cups cherry pie filling
  • 6 cups crumbled chocolate cake
  • 1 cup Icing sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Method

Prep all your ingredients ahead of time. This will help to make sure you have all the ingredients you need for the recipe and to help make things move faster. In a sauce pan combine the milk and water. Heat just to a scald.

Pour the liquid into a large bowl and add the butter. Stir till the butter is melted.

Add in the sugar and stir till the sugar is dissolved. Before continuing check the temperature of the mixture to make sure it's not to hot. You want the temp to be around 110F.

Once the mixture has cooled, go ahead and add the eggs, instant yeast and about 2 cups of flour. Mix till smooth and allow to sit uncovered for 10 minutes.

Add in the salt and some more flour and mix. Once the mixture becomes to hard to mix in the bowl. pour out onto a flat surface and continue to add the flour and knead.

Knead for about 10 minutes. In a clean bowl add a little oil. Place the kneaded dough into the bowl and turn over till all sides are very lightly coated with oil.

Cover with plastic wrap and allow to double in bulk. This will take about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. Once the dough has doubled in bulk. Pour out onto a flat surface.

Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough into a 16x21 rectangle. Pour the cherry pie filling on top and spread out. Leaving a 1/2 inch all around.

Once the cherry pie filling is spread out, sprinkle the chocolate crumbs on top.

Roll the dough like you would cinnamon buns. Try to pinch the dough closed as best as possible.

Cut the buns with a very sharp knife about 1 1/2 inches wide. Place into your prepared containers. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rise for about 1 hour or till double in bulk. Bake in a preheated 350F oven for 25 - 30 minutes. Remove from oven and cool. Drip the icing over top.
