Poached Pear and Feta Bread

The poached pears and the herbed feta adds a wonderful flavor to this bread. Simple and delicious. You will find the recipe for the poached pears on our blog.

Dough:

  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup hard butter
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • 1 cup dices poached pear
  • 1/2 cup crumbled herb feta

Method

Get all your ingredients together to make sure you have everything you need. In a large bowl add the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix together with a whisk.

Add in diced hard butter and using a pastry cutter, cut the butter to a crumble in size.

Add in the poached pears and feta; mix till all the pears and cheese is dusted with flour. Make a well in the middle of the flour. Pour in the cold milk and mix with a wooden spoon.

Once it becomes mixed, bump out onto a flat surface and knead a few times. Do not over knead, you just want it to come together. Shape into a 9 inch circle.

Dust the top with flour and score an x on top. Place onto a parchment lined cookie sheet and bake in a preheated 375 degree oven for 40 - 45 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
