8 Whole Grain Bread Recipe: Makes 2 loaves

Ingredients

  • 3 cups warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 2 package yeast
  • 3 teaspoons salt
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon oil
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup soya flour
  • 1/2 cup barley flour
  • 1/2 cup rye flour
  • 1/2 cup corn flour
  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 - 3 cups white flour

Method

Dissolve sugar, molasses and yeast in warm water. Add salt and oil. Beat in the whole grain flours, using an electric mixer until a glutinous sponge is formed. Allow to sit for 15 minutes. Cover table with 1 1/2 cups of white flour. Place sponge in center of flour and knead until the dough is smooth and elastic; about 10 minutes. If extra flour is needed go ahead and add some. Divide dough into two equal parts. Form into loaves. Place loaves into greased loaf pans. Cover and allow to rise till double. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 45 minutes. Cool.
