Multigrain Date Bread Recipe: Makes 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup dates or raisins
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 cup bran
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk

Method

In a large bowl add dates or raisins; pour boiling water over and add baking soda; let stand for 5 minutes. Add in bran, flour, oats, sugar, baking powder, salt and milk; combine just till mixed. Pour into loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 70-80 minutes. Cool.
