Herb Bread Recipe: Makes 1 loaf

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons oil
  • 3-3 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Filling:

  • 4 tablespoon soft butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 tablespoon chives
  • 1 teaspoon seasoning salt

Method

To make the herb butter, combine all ingredients together cover and set aside till needed.
Prepare the kitchenaid mixer with a small bowl. Heat water and oil to 120 F. In a small bowl combine 1 1/2 cups flour, yeast, salt and sugar. Add liquid and turn the mixer to #12 for 3 minutes. Gradually add remaining flour to form a stiff dough. Knead until smooth about 5 minutes. Place dough into a greased bowl, cover allow to rise for about 1 hour. Punch down dough and roll into a 15x18 rectangle. Spread with herb butter to within 1 inch of edge. Roll like a jelly roll, pinch seam to seal. Place on a baking sheet. Slash the top several times. Cover and allow to rise until double. Bake in preheated 375 for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 and continue to bake for 20-25 more minutes.
